Ways up Kraft Mountain (La Hija)

Kraft Mountain (also known as La Hija) is a pile of rocks on the north side of Calico Basin in Red Rock Canyon. Its summit rises about a thousand feet above the basin below. The combination of proximity to the road, relatively low elevation gain, and interesting but forgiving terrain make it a very fun objective for a quick morning or afternoon.

The top is fairly flat and features two high points: the actual summit and a sub-peak called "Big Bird Peak". Big bird requires a

Usually I would stick to the same route: heading up the west most gully on the south face, and then descending by the west ridge to the saddle between Kraft and New Peak (I've heard this called "Pink Goblin Pass"). I originally found this in Courtney Purcell's *Rambles and Scrambles*.

As I've continued to visit Kraft, I've tried going different ways and thought it would be fun to document all of the ways I could find to get to the top.

South Face

The south face of Kraft features several gullies which could be viable routes. I've successfully made it up the two marked in blue. The "standard route" I mentioned above is the farthest left in the picture. The routes marked in purple are ones I'd like to explore, some of which seem more viable than others.

West Ridge

This is my standard descent route. It's low angle enough that you can choose any path you'd like and make your way up or down. This begins at the saddle with New Peak so it's nice if you want to link that up as well.

East Ridge

I've been up one way toward the east side but don't have a good picture. The
